Ernesto joined LAANE as community organizer for the Clean and Safe Ports Project in the summer of 2013. He previously worked for SEIU-ULTCW as an organizer in the nursing home division, leading successful organizing drives for over three years. Prior to joining the labor movement, Ernesto worked on multiple immigrant right campaigns during his undergraduate education at UCLA. He worked on implementing strategic education and media plans to build support for both the California and Federal DREAM Acts. Originally from Tepatitlan, Jalisco Mexico, he was raised with his five siblings in Long Beach and has first-hand experience of pollution from the ports.
