Green Construction Careers in the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act After hundreds of phone calls . . . Thousands of emails . . . Millions of Americans can have a chance at a green-collar middle class. This month, Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and John Kerry (D-MA) introduced the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act. Thanks to your support and the efforts of a national coalition that includes LAANE, Green for All and the Partnership for Working Families, the bill includes language creating a Green Construction Careers Demonstration Project! The demonstration project would merge the construction careers approach LAANE has pioneered with jobs in the clean energy sector, tying opportunity, equity and high job quality standards to green jobs. The demonstration project will give thousands of people a chance at a middle-class career in the new green economy. But our work is not done, and we need your help as we move forward! A version of this legislation has already passed the House of Representatives. As the bill moves toward a floor vote in the Senate, we will post Take Action alerts at www.laane.org. Please take a moment to help ensure the new economy is a green economy that works for all. Thanks for your support so far. We look forward to working with our coalition partners, elected officials and you as we pursue policies that both green and grow our middle class. |
